NHS Scotland 2014 – a day in reflection by @PAG1962

Inspiring

I’ve been inspired by day one of the NHS Scotland 2014 event. Spread and sustainability

The themes of sustainability and spread are very pertinent to the challenges we all face, and I have seen compelling evidence that we have a strong basis from which to build.

screen-capture-40I really enjoyed the poster displays – a real range and variety of solutions, demonstrating the depth and wealth of knowledge and insight that’s available to us. screen-capture-41

It was great to hear from David Dalton too: we can all learn from the experience of others, while being proud to share our own.

So, I’m looking forward to tomorrow with real anticipation, and I just wanted to say how much I appreciated the fact that so many people took the time to speak to me and share their ideas today.

Digital engagement – digital learning

screen-capture-50I was very pleased to see the investment that NHS Education for Scotland are making in digital learning, when I visited their stand today, and the opportunities they are offering to facilitate the establishment and development of mentoring relationships.

screen-capture-44It was very interesting to meet colleagues at all levels within Health and from a range of partner organisations, including the third sector. Their range of perspectives and experiences help to ensure that we’re not taking a one size fits all approach to improvement.

It also reassured me that we don’t see leadership and improvement as issues that are relevant only to senior managers – indeed, without the voices and experiences of front line staff, patients, families and carers, we would be much poorer.

This week’s blog was @PAG1962 (Paul Gray) Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and Director General of Health and Social Care.

Below is a few of the many images shared via Twitter on the day.  Further images, conversations and reflections from delegates can be viewed by following #NHSScot14 on Twitter.
